Music Industry 2.0 | Where do you fit in?
By Michael Anderson. Posted in PBMG Music Card |
With the end of the CD quickly approaching artists and record labels must evolve their businesses into a new form. Today’s music consumers are relying less on the CD and more on the Digital Distribution Services, such as iTunes and Amazon. As more companies are attempting to deploy there own form of digital distribution they have to recognize the one true benefit of the CD at this point, live retail sales. Music 2.0 begs to question, “How do I give my fans the convenience of digital downloads as well as the satisfaction of purchasing my album in retail stores or at live shows?”
“Music 2.0 will be about building meaningful relationships with the fans”
Most people I know at this point who continue to by CDs immediately rip them to there iPods and Digital MP3 devices never using them again. There has to be a way for an artist to sell music at live shows and in retail shops without the hassle of CD’s. There is way, but read on…
So, lets say I’m a devoted fan who wants a piece of memorabilia and artwork along with my album purchase, yet I don’t want the hassle of uploading a CD. What’s the solution? The Pure Bananas Music Card is the solution. This card answers numerous questions from above:
- It allows consumers the ability to purchase the card in retail stores and at live shows.
- It allows consumers the ability to access a Secure Website to Download The Album
- It allows consumers the ability to access updated songs, mix tapes, and promotional features from the Artists
The Card is essentially an Online Social connection between the artist and his/her fan. In this relationship they both know each other. The artists knows exactly who purchased their album, and the consumer gets access to pre-release tracks, mixes, videos, and more. Music 2.0 will be about building a lasting relationship with each fan, but how can you do that if you don’t know who purchased your music? This is a major flaw in the CD. With a connection and a relationship, who’s to say selling a million copies won’t in fact be much easier the next time around because you have built a lasting relationship with a million fans…
Brilliant, customer service and satisfaction is about to infiltrate the Music Industry!
Next time we will discuss the link between building a relationship with fans in order to launch new businesses outside of music. I.E. Jay-Z, Sean Combs, Miley Cyrus, etc.
Exciting….

Makes sense to me, let’s see who will get it or will people continue to follow suit of the failing industry.
